There are huge price differences between each perfume. Some only cost around ten euros per unit or even less depending on the capacity, while some cost hundreds or even thousands of euros! Unfair you say?

What do we pay exactly?

The first thing to know is that a market, no matter which one it is, has psychological prices. If you see a top-of-the-range perfume at € 5 for 250mL in an advertisement, are you going to buy it? No, because the minimum psychological price has been exceeded. There is therefore a minimum and maximum threshold not to be exceeded for the merchant. But there are also the direct costs associated with the production of the perfume. For example, the cost of buying raw materials and processing them. Add to that the packaging of the product and the logistics costs. To be developed, the perfume must be tested beforehand. So there are costs associated with research.

How can this large price difference be explained?

Now that we've seen the big costs of producing and selling a perfume, it's good to remember that not all of the costs were mentioned. The price difference is explained by the content of "juice" contained in the perfume. "Juice" refers to the oils present in your perfume, the more there is; the more expensive. But you also say that the more there is, the longer the perfume lasts. So that's what you really pay, with a part linked to the marketing budget which also plays a big part and the costs mentioned above.

Note: The more juice the perfume, the longer it lasts. But it also varies according to the skins which make it possible to make a perfume last longer or shorter. And that also varies depending on where you apply it.
