What is Gowé?

Called in Mali, under different names, its botanical name is Cyperus rotondus, a herbaceous plant of the papyrus family. It is a plant that is similar to the Nutcracker (Cyperus esculentus), they have the same root, one comes from West Africa (Mali, Senegal ...) and the other from Africa from the east

The use of Gowé

Its first use is often under the name of Gowé, its name in Wolof that people use it and surely the best known, it is as natural incense! By placing a piece on a piece of hot charcoal, it drives away bad smells ... Either associated with perfumes, which you leave macerated for months at the bottom of your cupboard, called Thiouraye, it perfumes your house.

In Senegal, its fumigation provides an aphrodisiac effect as well as a strengthening of memory. This root has above all a relaxing and tranquilizing effect on the nerves and stimulating the mind. Its scent has a warm and dark oriental note; it lies between agarwood, vetiver root, and spikenard.

The second use. In infusion, you will drink, every morning, painkillers, it will be!

The mamas say to keep a grain in the mouth, because it allows to have good breath, in fact, it is a plant that improves oral hygiene, it cleans the belly and in addition to the purifying property, it prevents the colon cancer and diseases of the digestive system ...
